Day2

ST GILLES HELL-BOURG
(CIRQUE DE SALAZIE)

Breakfast. Departure from your hotel to go to the magnificent cirque of SALAZIE

You will take the beautiful road heading to the Cirque de Salazie famous for its numerous waterfalls among which the bridal veil: « Voiles de la Mariée », to finally reach the picturesque Hell-Bourg village, right in the heart of the circus. Hell-Bourg is the only overseas village to be labeled as « one of the most beautiful village in France».

The “Cirque”, shaped after the collapse of an old volcano , is surrounded by exuberant mountains with luxuriant vegetation and offers spectacular views on ravines , gorgeous waterfalls such as the famous “Bride’s Veil Falls“.

Photo-Stop at the fabulous "Bride's Veil" waterfalls. The name takes after the visual effect of its long and fine fall suggesting a white veil.

You will continue your road up to the nice village of Hell Bourg: Hell-Bourg is the unique French Village overseas, classified as one of “the prettiest village of France”. Its streets are lined with lovely Creole houses. Guarded by verandas adorned with friezes, the pretty houses nestle in the deep gardens surrounded by flowers. It gives you a good idea of the brilliant colonial society of the 19thcentury

 

Lunch at a typical restaurant

After lunch you will have the choice between 2 visits:

Day4

ST GILLES DISCOVER THE FAMOUS PITON DE LA FOURNAISE :
ONE OF THE MOST ACTIVE VOLCANO OF THE WORLD!

Early departure (around 7h30) for a discovery of the incredible site of Piton de la Fournaise, one of the most active volcano in the world ! From the Pas de Bellecombe, you’ll catch a scenic view on the caldeira and the Dolomieu crater , 2631 metres high.

Photo-stop at the “Nez de Boeuf” to see the beautiful view of The “Rivière des Remparts” Canyon. photo-stop at “La Plaine des Sables amazing scenic view with its black and red sands desert created by the Volcano’s eruptions.

You will arrive to the end road of the Volcano at “Pas de Bellecombe” (2311 meters high). From that point you will have a 1 hour 30 minutes free time to discover the magnificent panoramas of the Volcano’s caldera: the small red crater of “Formica Leo” and the main crater “Dolomieu” (2631 meters high). 5 kilometers away from the Volcano, you’ll make a 30 minutes stop to the “Commerson Crater, which is a huge Chasm created by an old volcanic eruption with a 200 meters diameter and 235 meters depth hole.

Driving towards Saint Pierre, you will go the way to Bois-Court belvedere for an impressive scenic view on Grand- Bassin waterfall.

Day5

ST PIERRE THE BEAUTIFUL WILD SOUTH

Breakfast

- Departure from your hotel to the beautiful WildSouth.

- First stop will be the magnificent “Grand-Galet waterfall” in the “Langevin River” “(30 minutesstop).

- On the way, photo-stop at Cap Mechant (30 minutes stop), to take pictures of big waves crushing on the black volcaniccliffs.

- You will take the lava road near the village of Saint-Philippe, from where you will observe the biggest nature reserve of the island which has grown from the latest lava flows of the Fournaise (vacoas, filaos, colored-wood and cabbage trees).

Lunch at a typical restaurant in Anse des Cascades a quiet natural place with waterfalls, a charming typical Creole harbor and a picnic area situated in a coconut palmfield.

- 3 hours visit of Lava-Tube of 2004 lavas (guided by Volcano’s mountains guide) “Wild South” will offer you the Volcano’s lava tube searching for the lost treasure!
